Principles of Art

Contrast- The difference in luminance or color that makes objects distinguishable from one another.

Emphasis- special importance, value, or prominence given to something.

Balance- how designs are distributed. Formal balance is symmetrical while informal balance has different proportions on each side.

Proportion- Size of the design compared to another of the same design.

Perspective- used to give an idea of where something is on a three dimensional plain
